Assets

We design, build and operate beef and dairy production facilities at commercial scale.

These assets are developed to world class standards and fully customised to the environment in which they are located.

With fifty years global experience Polkinghornes facilities are developed with our technology embedded inside their operations to produce consistent, premium quality beef and dairy products with complete traceability.

Jepara Beef Production Facility, Indonesia

Situated on 100 hectares on the north coast of Central Java, this facility is being developed in partnership with a local regional government agency. With a design capacity of 10,000 head, all genetics, breeding, fattening and processing take place on site to produce premium beef to world class quality standards

The program involves major collaboration with farmers and communities in the Jepara region including feed supply, cattle management and fertilizer trading. It is currently in feasibility and design stage with construction to commence in mid-2024.

Calf Rearing Facilities, Australia

In collaboration with our Elite Dairy Beef business, we are developing assets across dairy regions of Victoria for the purpose of rearing and fattening dairy steers for producing premium low carbon beef products.

Beef from these facilities supplies our Transparent Beef Company brand in South East Asia and Middle East.

Dairy & Beef Production Facility, Malaysia

In partnership we are expanding this existing dairy business in peninsula Malaysia to implement a dairy and beef production program.

Located on 600 acres we will be developing localised breed and nutritional programs to increase dairy production and create a premium beef product from calf steers. The objective of this partnership is to create Malaysia’s own world class beef products for domestic and export markets.

Somerville Boning Room & Commercial Kitchen, Australia

Located east of Melbourne this development involved renovating an abalone production facility to perform all boning, aging, portion cutting and cooking for Polkinghornes retail chain.

Full tracking of all portions was in applied to measure yields and quality through to retail sale to achieve value based trading model, the first such model implemented globally.

Marrinya Cattle Farm, Australia

These stores were located across Melbourne and Sydney offering deboning, retail cut fabrication, cooked meal production and 'paddock to plate' retail beef.

Linked direct to our farms these stores were designed and operated to offer consumers quality outcomes with new results-based description of products.

Charlton Holsteins Dairy, Australia

This commercial scale dairy was developed at Charlton Feedlot and at the time was an industry pioneer in Australia. With a milking herd of 1500 head it was supplied by a number of cropping properties we owned locally preparing custom nutrition.

Milk production from Charlton Holsteins serviced Sandurst Dairies, a Polkinghornes liquid milk and cheese production business.

Sandhurst Dairies, Australia

Polkinghornes acquired Sandhurst Dairies in the 1980’s and increased its production from 300,000 to 600,000 litres daily, supplying Coles supermarkets. During this time we developed a new ultrafiltered milk product “PhysiCAL” which quickly took 4% of Victorian market share (this label is now marketed by Pauls).

The Sandhurst Dairy business expanded into milk processing and cheese production and initiated the first value-based payment system in Australia paying for milk on a pricing system that independently valued protein, fat and other solids on the basis of demand and price of the products sold and their relative composition. The business was acquired by Coles Myer Group.

Charlton Feedlot, Australia

In 1971 Polkinghornes established one of the first commercial beef feedlots in Australia on the family farm near Charlton.

This was rapidly expanded from an initial 300 head capacity and over a twenty year period to 15,000 head capacity when it was then acquired by Coles Myer Group. After fifty years the feedlot remains one of the best in Australia and is currently owned by Teys.
